Root Cellar Jam

Thursday, March 24, 2016
7:00pm-9:00pm
Bernunzio Uptown Music
122 East Avenue
Rochester, NY 14604

Each month the Root Cellar Jam will host a “roots flavor” to be performed in an intimate setting.  Blues, bluegrass, old-time and folk styles, including current music and songs written by our region’s finest songwriters are planned to be featured this year.

Old Time Hoedown will be filling in for regular host, Gordon Munding.  We will perform our Appalachian music from 7:00-7:45, then have a 15 minute break, and will resume at 8:00 for a jam until 9:00.

Come for the show and come for the jam to follow!
Get up on stage and perform a solo roots tune (or two) of your own! Or you can stay right in your chair and jam!

“We hope you will also join us at one of our contra dances or English country dances. Every dance has live music and a caller who teaches each dance sequence. It’s fine to come with or without a partner.  New dancers are always welcome, and if you’re an old hand, you already know how much fun it can be. If you have not danced before, we encourage you to come at the beginning of the dance to get the most out of the teaching, and be prepared to smile a lot!”
General admission: $7.00

No partner required.  Come alone, or with friends and family, or with a significant other, just come!  No experience required — beginners welcome!  All dances are taught and walked through.  No special outfits required.  Loose, breathable clothing and clean, flat, soft-soled shoes recommended.  Sneakers and Hush Puppies are good. Cowboy boots and high heels are NOT good; not only do those shoes damage wooden dance floors, but they are difficult to move around in, and you will move around!
